State Representative Ginny Ehrhart (R-Powder Springs) will formally introduce a bill that would make it a felony for medical professionals to help a minor with gender transition. Under Ehrhart’s proposal, Georgia medical providers who perform surgeries or administer or prescribe medications that assist minors with gender transition could be charged with a felony. Tell your State Representative not to criminalize medical treatment for trans youth and STOP HB 1060.
This bill is built on the dangerous falsehood that any young child is receiving irreversible medical treatments. It’s shameful to try to score political points on the backs of children. These attacks seek to deny the humanity and existence of transgender individuals and must be rejected. The last thing our nation’s trans young people need is politicians making it even harder by singling them out for their own political gain and putting their health at risk.
Transgender kids across Georgia need to know that they are protected – it’s more urgent than ever that we stand with them. Medical professionals, NOT politicians, should decide what medical care is in the best interest of a patient. Tell your State Representative to STOP HB 1060!
