Right now, Georgia is one of only three states that have no laws barring employers from discriminating on the basis of race or religion, and we’re one of only five that don’t prohibit this discrimination in public places like restaurants, shopping malls, doctors offices and hotels.
And because federal law doesn’t prohibit discriminating against LGBT Americans, LGBT Georgians are at heightened risk of being wrongfully fired, evicted or denied service.
This hurts Georgia’s economy by making us less attractive to potential employees, employers and investment opportunities. That’s why small businesses are joining our coalition to pass an LGBT-inclusive civil rights law.
