Evening for Equality 2021
still VIRTUAL, still VITAL

Pre-Show Starting at 6:30 PM

On June 17, 2021, we’ll gather virtually to recognize and celebrate the many victories helping to advance fairness, safety and opportunity for Georgia’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) communities and our allies.
We’re nearing the end of the COVID-19 tunnel, and many of us are SO READY to celebrate with you in person again! BUT– we’re not ready to ask folks to come to an in-person event just yet. So, even though this year’s event will be virtual, your support is STILL VITAL– there is no canceling our work.
Join to Host Committee TODAY and join some of Georgia’s most important advocates, elected and community leaders for our annual presentation of the Equality Awards.
Your sponsorship for Evening for Equality supports Georgia Equality’s work:
-educating and organizing communities and policy makers at the local, state, and federal levels to keep Georgia safe for all people;
-supporting policies that promote LGBTQ health and protect people living with HIV/AIDS;
-developing leaders in the movement for transgender equality; and
-helping elect candidates who support the equal treatment of all.
This year’s Honorees:
The Champion for Equality Award
Congresswoman Nikema Williams
This year’s Champion for Equality Award honors Congresswoman Williams’ long-time commitment to advancing LGBTQ issues, Reproductive Rights, Voting Access and over a decade of tireless work to build a progressive political movement in Georgia that is inclusive and supportive of LGBTQ communities and individuals.
The Allen Thornell Political Advancement Award
Representative Matthew Wilson
This year’s Allen Thornell Political Advancement Award recognizes a man with a long-time commitment to advancing LGBTQ issues on a state and local level– as a community advocate, as a member of the state legislature, and as one of Georgia Equality’s biggest cheerleaders. As an openly gay elected official, Representative Matthew Wilson continues to break barriers and serve as a role model to the next generation of LGBTQ leaders.
