Civic Engagement Canvasser

Reports To: Statewide Organizing Manager

Pay Rate: $20-25 per hour

Hours: 15-20 hours per week

Georgia Equality is seeking Civic Engagement Canvassers for the Atlanta metro, Muscogee, Dougherty County, and/or Savannah areas. The Civic Engagement Canvasser will engage in nonpartisan voter registration, community education, ongoing training, and voter protection leading up to the elections throughout the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities:

  • Voter Registration: Provide eligible adults with voter registration information and resources at events and locations throughout the state of Georgia.

  • Community Education: Share non-partisan information about the voting process and voting rights with members of the community.

  • Ongoing Training: Attend Pro Georgia ongoing trainings to ensure the execution of best practices while in the field.

  • Voter Protection: Equip registrants with the necessary tools and facts while registering in order to ensure their access to vote in upcoming elections.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Civic Engagement Canvasser is regularly expected to be on their feet and/or walking.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for civic engagement work.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Commitment to consistency of process and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse staff and community members.

  • Experience with voter registration is preferred.

  • Ability to travel in and around the state of Georgia to reach and connect with LGBTQ+ communities.
