Statewide Organizing Manager
The Statewide Organizing Manager will assist with current Georgia Equality programs and issues, including civic engagement and voter registration, community engagement events (LGBTQ+ Prides), transgender rights, safe and supportive schools, passing pro-equality legislation and electing supportive candidates to office. Georgia Equality’s expanded mission includes an intersectional approach to issues, as well as working with a wide range of institutions such as schools, businesses, religious congregations, local governments, health clinics, and LGBTQ+ centers. This position is based in Atlanta, and will be housed in Georgia Equality’s offices when we return to in-person work.
Responsibilities:

Serve as an Georgia Equality’s Statewide Organizing Manager by primarily leading GE’s Civic Engagement and Voter Registration programming, and assisting with other programs as needed. This work includes:

Implementing objectives from grant funded programs throughout Georgia

Implementing and developing strategies to achieve all grant deliverables.

Developing key relationships with representatives of LGBTQ+ organizations, LGBTQ-friendly organizations, and allied organizations.

Managing all aspects of the grant including budget, reports, invoices, and tracking grant metrics and objectives, and developing strategies for meeting all grant objectives.

Build in-depth programming for an intensive advocacy training program for grassroots leaders.

Manage grant reporting and program evaluation processes.

Providing program support across all Georgia Equality’s program and issue priorities.
2. Manage Georgia Equality’s Festival outreach and education programming statewide:

Developing the annual Georgia Equality festival and outreach schedule.

Identifying LGBTQ+ pride events for participation.
-
Accurately communicate Georgia Equality programs to festival attendees.

Execute specific actions and goals related to all Georgia Equality’s programs and legislative priorities.

Volunteer recruitment and management.

Developing day-of “run-of-shows” for all staff and volunteers.

Tracking education materials and meeting event benchmarks.

Availability to work nights and weekends, and willingness to travel across the state.
3. Support Georgia Equality’s advocacy, legislative, and electoral work:

Phone/text bank management.
-
Canvassing and talking to voters will be required.

Volunteer recruitment to execute canvasses.
-
Experience with VAN or PDI.
4. Support other work of the organization on an as-needed basis at the discretion of the Deputy Director and Executive Director:

All program managers are expected and required to work across all programs.
-
Program managers might be assigned and tasked with short and long-term additional programs.
-
Program managers might be assigned a different program completely based on the needs of the organization.
Qualifications:
Applicants for this position should bring the following knowledge, abilities, and attitude:
-
At least 3 – 6 years management experience working in any of the following fields: advocacy, outreach, public education, and mobilization; as well as, working in social justice areas including: civil rights, progressive and/or social justice organizations, preferably in the LGBTQ+ movement, public policy, public health, or HIV/AIDS.

One year or more of people management experience is required.

Experience working within the confines of grant-funded projects, detail-oriented and thorough work style.

Knowledge, passion and commitment to addressing issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community as well as advancing equality and social justice generally.

Strong public presentation skills, and experience in public speaking and/or training.

Strong written communication skills including ability to assist in draft member communications, social media outreach, and event publicity.

Commitment to working across lines of difference, including race, class, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and age to achieve objectives.

Ability and interest to work with a wide range of organizations and institutions including other LGBTQ+ groups, schools, religious congregations, and other social justice and advocacy organizations. Demonstrated experience with at least some of these types of organizations preferred.

Reliable personal transportation– due to the statewide nature of this position, the ideal candidate will be able to travel around Georgia as needed.

Ability and experience in forming strong public relationships.

Experienced campaign/community organizer preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:

The salary target for this position is $55,000 annually.
