Job Description Position Title: Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Community Organizer 

Reports To: Southern Organizer 

Pay Rate: $25 per hour 

Type: Temporary Full-Time, September 12th, 2022 through November 15th, 2022 

 

The GOTV Organizer will lead the charge on volunteer recruitment and mobilization, while building relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leaders. Our ideal candidate is a person who takes the initiative, is highly organized, builds relationships easily, and is comfortable working with diverse and underrepresented communities. A candidate who is a good fit is one who has the energy and determination to reach ambitious goals, the commitment to support young leaders learning to do this work and has a positive outlook and contagious personality. The person selected for this position will be trained, supported, and should be open to direction on how to perform the GOTV duties. 

Primary duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Executing GOTV campaigns 
  • Volunteer recruitment, including calls to potential volunteers, and outreach to community groups and schools for recruitment of new volunteers to conduct direct voter contact 
  • Staffing and coordinating GOTV events  
  • Attend training sessions on GOTV and transfer the skills to new canvassers 
  • Reporting on outcomes of GOTV events 
  • Participating in and/or managing phonebanks, textbanks, community meetings and canvasses 

 

General skill and experience desired: 

  • Previous campaign experience as staff or volunteer preferred but not required 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Interest in grassroots organizing and causes 
  • Ability to supervise and energize volunteers 
  • Highly organized, communicative and respectful of deadlines and goals 
  • Ability to relate to people different than you, as well as patience to work with others 
  • Proficient in office productivity software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs)
