It has been several days since the President’s surprise tweets about the future of open transgender service in the US Military, and we still don’t know much about what exactly is going to happen. We know that in order to change the policy a few procedural things will have to happen first. We also know that a bipartisan group of US Senators have already spoken out against the President’s statements. Take a look at the list!
Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah)
Senator Richard Shelby (R-Alabama)
Senator Kamala Harris (D-Calif.)
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass)
Senator Tim Kaine (D-Virginia)
Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-Illinois)
Senator John McCain (R-Arizona)
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa)
It’s great that so many Senators have already renounced the President’s disgusting tweets, but Georgia’s Senators are notably absent from the list. Click here to send a message to Senators Isakson and Perdue letting them know that they should renounce Trumps tweets publicly and NOW!
The US Department of Defense already employs as many as 15,000 transgender americans, and it is disgusting to think that President would try to fire all of them in a tweet. Just like all service members, transgender people in the US Military go in to work everyday willing to sacrifice their life in defense of this country. They should be judged on their ability to do their jobs, and nothing else.
